The Ford GT40 is one of the most legendary race cars in automotive history. Developed in the 1960s to beat Ferrari at Le Mans, it became an icon of American engineering and racing dominance.
The GT40 famously won the 24 Hours of Le Mans four consecutive times from 1966 to 1969, ending Ferrariโs winning streak. The "40" in GT40 comes from its height: just 40 inches (1.02 meters).
Ford revived the GT40 as the Ford GT in 2005 and again in 2016, both paying tribute to the original while using modern tech and design.
